Alpha programme terms

What the alpha is, the alpha price, and what happens to your papers.

Effective: 21 October 2026.

These terms are in addition to our Terms of Service. Where they differ, these win for alpha members.

1.The alpha programme

The alpha is an early version of Latently, given to testers through Apple's TestFlight. It costs nothing and needs no card. It is unfinished: some papers still come out wrong, and features will change, break, and occasionally disappear; the service may be unavailable; despite our best efforts, data may be lost. We try hard to preserve your library and reading positions, but during alpha we can't promise it. While you test, we collect how you use the app, as our Privacy Policy describes.

2.Who is an alpha member

You are an alpha member if you signed up for the Latently alpha, on latently.app/alpha or by invitation, before the alpha ends.

3.When the alpha ends

The alpha ends when the features we have set for a working product are ready, including the App Store release and payment. We will email every alpha member two months, one month and two weeks before it ends. When it ends, every alpha member graduates.

4.What happens after graduation

After graduation, your two-week trial starts the next time you sign in, whenever that is. There is no deadline for coming back. The trial needs no card, and nothing is charged unless you choose to subscribe. We will remind you before the trial ends.

5.Your price

If you start paying before your trial ends, you get 48 months at US$5 a month, plus tax in your region: four years of paying. Each month you pay at US$5 uses one of them; a month you don't pay for uses none. When they are used up, you pay the standard price at that time, and we will tell you before the change. Our standard price is US$8 a month, plus tax in your region.

If your trial ends and you have not subscribed, you keep the alpha price for two months from the day the trial ended. Subscribe within those two months and you pay US$5 as above; after them, a new subscription is at the standard price.

Your plan includes about 50 new papers a month. A paper only counts the first time you add it; opening it again never counts. Nothing stops you at 50. If your use goes far beyond it, we may limit it, and we will tell you first.

6.If you cancel

If your subscription ends, you keep your remaining US$5 months if you subscribe again within two months of the day it ended. After two months they end, and a new subscription is at the standard price.

7.Your papers after a subscription ends

If your subscription ends, we keep your papers for two months from the day it ended, the same two months as the alpha price in section 6. If you subscribe again within those two months, your papers are still there. After that, we delete them.

8.Changes

We will not raise the alpha price or reduce anyone's US$5 months. We may make it better.
